Welcome to The NASCAR Family. My family enjoys not only going to NASCAR races, but the camping that goes along with it. My son was sitting in the stands at Loewe's Motor Speedway on his first birthday! My daughter was 8 months old on her first race in our motorhome in the infield at Pocono Raceway. We've been to every Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup track that we can drive to in a short period of time on the East Coast. We've had a lot of fun, we've met a lot of people and saw a lot of races. We feel like a part of NASCAR and that is what sets NASCAR apart from most sports - it's a lifestyle.

I totally missed Martinsville. I saw the race, but didn't post that week. Sorry about that! I always find Martinsville interesting for 3 reasons - 1) it's generally a grudge match left over from Bristol 2) the cars look so pretty going in and there's not one that makes it out without a dent or scratch and 3) ya gotta love the Martinsville weinies!! Onward and upward! What about Mike McDowell's wreck! Wow, what a ride. Congrats to Carl Edwards win in Texas and two thumbs up for the perfect dismount!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Rain is such an inconvenience. I assume the Nationwide race was able to finish on Saturday. The big news on Sunday ~ Goodbye to Dale Jarrett. What a good man and what an outstanding reputation. He is one of the last good ol' boys to leave NASCAR and although I'll be happy to see him as an announcer, I'll be missin' him on the track. Good luck Dale and thanks for racin' the truck!!! (those commercials bring the tears)

This week is the best of short track racing...Bristol! Bristol is an awesome track. Tickets are hard to get, but if you can get them it's well worth the trip. The track people are great, the scenery is beautiful (as well as rolling!) and the race is the best of the best! Good luck to all of our racers and be safe!

Good wishes goes out to Jeff Gordon. What a hard hit he took at the end of the race. Thanks to the safer cars and better seats, Jeff was able to walk away from that wreck. Congrats to Carl Edwards for the win, but that win was a bit bitter. Post-race inspection found Carl's oil cooler lid "off" which relates to more air and faster speeds. There has been talk of stripping Carl of his winner yesterday, but NASCAR.com reports that the win stands. There is still a pending decision as to how to punish the 99 team. Supposedly, five Nationwide cars had their lids "loose" after the Daytona race and were penalized driver and owner points as well as crew chief suspensions.

This is one of those very few times that I'm glad that I don't have tickets to a race. What a mess yesterday! I couldn't believe the weeping track and what about all the garbage! Two thumbs up to Jamie McMurray who successfully drafted a piece of plastic off the grill of his car thus avoiding a drive into the pits! I do have to admit that I'm a little disappointed in NASCAR yesterday. I think there were a lot of wrong choices made. I do realize that there is an incredible amount on the line when it comes to calling off a race, but waiting until 2am to do it is a little crazy. At 1am did they REALLY expect the drivers to get into their cars and drive? Mother Nature, as always, has an upper hand in racing and we need to learn when it is an appropriate time to concede. Good luck to everyone today and we'll look forward to next weekend! The standings will be changed tomorrow.

Whew! What a race weekend! It's good to see all the drivers back and everyone seemed raring to go. I do have to admit that I missed the majority of the Sprint Cup Race. My daughter and I, at the last minute, got tickets to High School Musical and she really wanted to go. Ok fine! I did too! One word for this weekend's races...can someone please take out the Busch brothers!!!!!
